Codependency

What is Codependency?

Codependency was a term originally used to defined partners of alcoholics. Over time codependency has expanded to include “a dysfunctional pattern of relating and problem solving in relationships”.  Common problems of codependency include poor boundaries, controlling behavior and choosing partners who are emotionally unavailable.

How do I know if I am codependent?

Ask yourself :

  • Is your relationship more important to you than you are?
  • Do you feel guilty when you say “yes” to your needs and “no” to others?
  • Do you find yourself in the same types of unsatisfying relationships with people who aren’t emotionally there for you?
