About Marcia

aboutmarcia I am a licensed clinical social worker with 20 years of experience providing services to adults, children, adolescents and families. I earned a master’s degree at New York University, and have worked at a variety of settings including special education schools and day treatment programs, community health clinics, and several dialysis clinics in the North Bay as well as my private practice. I have extensive training in the treatment of trauma, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) which is an intervention that can be used for trauma, chronic pain, addictions and anxiety.

My interest in Eastern philosophy led me to a month long Vipassana meditation retreat at a small village in Northern Thailand. I began to study Buddhist and Hindu teachings, and am particularly touched by the focus these teachings have on compassion for all beings. This focus inspires my work, where I offer caring, insight, and unconditional support to my clients. As a therapist working within a holistic framework, I believe in healing for the mind, body and spirit. To facilitate this healing, I draw on a blend of alternative and traditional therapeutic techniques.

I offer an initial 20 minute phone consultation free of charge ~ I look forward to speaking with you soon.
